37 Weeks!

We've finally hit 37 weeks! I can hardly wait til baby girl gets here! I keep getting bigger every day and feel like one big stretch mark, but I hear it will all be worth it once she's here.

Updates:

The other night, Cass and I were in bed and I was the big spoon. She starts kicking and Cass asks, "Is she kicking me in the back?" Yes indeed! Silly girl.

She moves a ton, especially when I'm trying to sleep! Sometimes I feel like she's only not moving when my belly is too hard and contracted for her to move. It's so weird, though, because my belly is all lop-sided. She's always on my left side and sometimes it's very obviously lop-sided.

Baby girl likes to kick me in my ribs a lot. I have a bruise on my ribs from her. For real. Visible bruise!

A student asked me if I was having twins because I am so big; I explained that it's normal. He was all, "No, [math teacher] didn't get that big!" Well, she's taller than I am! And she didn't go full term. Regardless. I'm huge.

Doctor says:

Last week at 36 weeks, 1 cm and 70%
Today at 37 weeks, 1 cm and 80%
He says the most he'll let me go over is a week, but he doesn't think it will come to that. My belly was also measuring big today, so big baby?

I got a Prenatal Massage yesterday. It was super great and relaxing. I could have fallen asleep right then and there! And I did take a little nap after . . .

Cass put the car seat in last week and it's so weird to see it when I turn around to back up! Speaking of driving, it's a constant battle between my short legs and my big belly, do I squish one or stretch the other?

time to come out of the closet . . .

. . . and please don't judge me!

So back when Ashley was still pregnant with Eva, she started talking about cloth diapers. And Cass and I started thinking about them.  And a few months back, Cass presented me with this article by mint.com [yeah, it's probably his favorite website]. He was convinced that they would be a money saver. And so I agreed to try them, with the caveat that if it doesn't work for us, for me, I can quit it, no guilt. [If they're in good condition, they can resale for pretty close to original price, so we wouldn't be out a lot of money.]

The savings are the biggest reasoning for us.  Especially since it wouldn't surprise me if baby girl is stubborn [gee, where could she get that from?] and refuses to potty train. I also think the diapers are super adorable and I just love buying cute things, so that's another reason. And I like to try to save the planet when possible and feasible  so if cloth diapering works for us and saves the planet? Even better.

So I started doing my research.  I was immediately drawn to the Flip Diapering System.

They grow with your child, so no need to worry about finding the right size.  they come with snaps or hook and loop [basically velcro] so my one-day toddler can't unsnap and run around naked. Or she might anyway. Who knows. But I digress. . .

The Flips are also in two parts, a cover and an insert. So no stuffing, as with the pockets, and no long drying time, as with the All-in-Ones. Plus you can reuse the cover throughout the day, unless it gets stinky, so you need less covers, which is also a money saver. We even got some on eBay, so half of ours are new and half are used. They seem perfect, on paper, so now we'll just have to wait til baby girl gets here and find out!

30 Weeks Down . . .

10 weeks to go! I don't know how my belly can get even bigger!
But really, everything is going well. I've gotten sick a few days, and obviously my back has had pain, but nothing terrible. Baby girl is doing really well; she loves to move around, especially when I'm trying to sleep. When I'm lying in bed, on my side, she'll bounce from one side of me to the other, so up and down like she's bouncing on a trampoline. Sometimes it feels like she's doing back flips in there too, especially after I eat! The worst thing she does is kick me in the ribs, in fact, she kicked one out of place! So last week I finally got myself to the chiropractor; I went again today. Hopefully I'll get sorted out here soon and get some sleep before the baby gets here! Not too much longer to wait!

oh, glucose!

Since we're back in town, but I still have the rest of the week off of work, I went to go get my glucose test done yesterday. Originally, Cass was going to come with me & get his blood test done as well (for his acne meds) and we would run some errands after. Unfortunately, he had to work, so I went by myself. I brought my iPhone to swag & Narnia  to read. I'm good at keeping myself entertained, yo.

I didn't have to wait too long before getting the drink, maybe 10-15 minutes? It was a pretty busy day for the Phelbotomists. The drink was really, really sugary, but it didn't taste horrible. Just like a super sugary toddler drink. And drinking it in five minutes? Not a problem.

So I sat and chilled and waited. I earned swagbucks and read almost all of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. And then it had been an hour. I'm reading the super large all-in-one Narnia, so I packed the book oh-so-tightly in my purse and waited. They'd come get me soon. Right?

Then I started to get really, really tired. And a little light headed. And I really thought I was going to puke. But if I threw up, or passed out, would they still do the test on me?? I didn't want to take the chance. Deeeeeeep breaths!  After about an additional 20 minutes of waiting, they came and got me.

I let the student they had draw my blood. She was slow but did okay. Once they got the three vials they needed, I was even more lightheaded. I let them know and then asked for a trash can to throw up in. Gross. Totally emptied my stomach. I can't imagine if they'd made me fast before the test instead of just doing a simple (toast & egg, no sugar!) breakfast. I don't think I would have made it!

After some breathing, resting, crackers, and apple juice, I felt much better. I was even able to get my errands done! My tummy still felt upset, though, so even though I was starving, I just had a granola bar and rested. I "took a little nap" around 3 . . . and didn't get up til almost 8!! And then I went back to bed pretty early too.

After all that, I don't know if I passed the test or not. . . but I sure hope they don't make me do the three hour! There's no way I can pass that!

Paranoid about Passing Out

Starting Friday morning, I was super dizzy. I kept thinking I was going to pass out. I tried food and water, knowing the two most logical causes would be dehydration or low blood sugar. Neither one made a difference. Any time I went from sitting to standing --whoa! And sometimes even just sitting there was dizzy-making. Work was not fun. At least the kids were pretty behaved.

I pretty much went to bed as soon as I got home. I just didn't feel good. With or without movement, I felt on the verge of passing out.

Saturday was the same thing. I was so frustrated with it. All I wanted to know was if this was an emergency and I needed to go to the hospital or if it was nothing and I just needed to buck up. But the doctor's office is closed on Saturday. So's the pregnancy risk hotline. Mom had no clue. The internet wasn't helpful. So finally we just decided to go to the hospital.

The nurses were very nice and took great care of me and didn't make me feel like I was overreacting or being a loser. They did some blood work and my labs came back pretty normal, just an elevated white count. Between them and the dr, they decided it was probably an ear thing related to the cold going around and gave me an anti-histamine. I started feeling better last night, so hopefully it continues on today. I'm glad it was something so little, but I'm glad we made the decision to go into the hospital, too. I can't just sleep my life away and worry that I'm going to pass out all the time.

Luckily, the whole time this was going on, I could still feel baby girl moving around. She was totally fine. It was just me being sick.
